The Grim Conspiracy is a work of fantasy fiction and epic adventure, penned by author C. Craig Coleman. Set in a lavish fantasy world, but one in which the balance between good and evil is tenuous at best, we watch as society collapses in on itself, ruined by its own fear and hatred. A varied cast of characters battles these complex emotions when disaster strikes, but when a chain of events leads to the escape of a dark force that threatens all life in the world, that world needs a hero. From the most unlikely source, and with the most unlikely journey, that hero takes up the seemingly impossible challenge.
Author C. Craig Coleman makes his work intrinsically human, utilizing the darkest emotions that we all find ourselves plagued with when life throws us a challenge. Through the fear, doubt and anger, we can totally relate to the wide cast of characters living in bloody, gritty times, and the choices they have to make. As the title suggests, the scenery and depictions can often be grotesque and barbaric, from sacrifices to epic fights, and Coleman weaves these brutal moments into a heartfelt narrative of the nature of good and evil, holding them up as shocking moments that make poignant emotional points for his characters. This gives the novel a realistic feel that’s rooted in the fantasy elements, and overall it makes The Grim Conspiracy a highly recommended read for epic fantasy fans who like their worldbuilding just a little darker.
