The Hero Among Us is about a man named Jim Ingram and his service to his country as he worked as an FBI Special Agent for over 30 years. Mr. Ingram was involved in the investigation and helping to solve some of the most infamous crimes in the late 20th century. He was thought of as ‘old school’ and was loyal to others and to the law. He made a lasting difference in Mississippi while working for the FBI, and he will always be appreciated and remembered because of his courageous character.

I was amazed at Jim Ingram as I read this book. I thought it especially heartwarming that he didn’t think of himself as a hero and The Hero Among Us was added to the title of the book after his death. He was so good at what he did that he was even brought out of retirement to help investigate a murder case. I was very intrigued to know that he investigated cases such as the assassination of President Kennedy, the Mississippi Burning civil rights murders, the Martin Luther King assassination, as well as many other high profile investigations. The Hero Among Us tells of Mr. Ingram’s investigations early in his life, and the awesome investigator he was in bringing those criminals to justice. I could go on and on because this is one amazing story to read! This book is not fiction, it is real-life situations and real people creating the horrific crimes. Mr. Ingram spent his life helping to make this a better world to live in. In my eyes, Mr. Jim Ingram is truly a hero, and this memoir sure does him justice.
