The Impaler's Revenge by Ioana Visan starts in Vienna Airport. Liana Cantacuzino meets with Maximilien Hess who's a thousand-year-old vampire. Under the order of Romania's most powerful leader, she has to bring him to her country. This is no ordinary feat as Romania is known to be vampire-free and to bring one in is considered treason. Security and extra measures have to be taken seriously. All is well at first and there's no trouble whilst they are traveling. However, once they are in Romania, strange things happen which yank Liana out of her routine. In the succeeding events, she finds herself protecting the very creature whom she was suppose to be protecting her people from. As things unfold, discoveries are made.
I saw the cover and I immediately knew Impaler's Revenge would be interesting. I was right! I read through this book in one sitting. It is one of a kind. The blend of action and paranormal was successful. Love was present but it was not the focus of the story. In fact, love took a backseat and that is very refreshing. The story stands out. Also, the political issue became interesting by the way it was presented in Impaler's Revenge. The characters contributed greatly in building up the actions from the book. I remembered feeling nervous for Maximilien or being anxious for Liana.
All in all, this book is a must-read and people should really grab a copy now.
