The Inn at Misty Lake (Book two in the Misty Lake series) by Margaret Standafer is another wonderful, whirlwind romance in Misty Lake, Minnesota. Riley's brother is marrying Susan's cousin but he finds himself pulled to her in a different way. Susan intrigues him, irritates him, and fascinates him. When she buys an old farmhouse with the intent to make a bed and breakfast at Misty Lake, she hires him to do the work, forcing them even closer together. Before either can recognize it, they're in deep. Spending long days together and designing the interior of a building can do that. Just when they're starting to acknowledge their feelings for one another, life throws in a curveball no one expects. Can they make it out together?
Wow. The Inn at Misty Lake was just amazing and I know I won't be able to say enough good things about it. I fell in love with many characters in the first book and could see the romance between Riley and Susan blooming. I was excited to get my hands on this book and get a deeper look into their stories, as well as see part of Sam and Jake's relationship progress. The dialogue and progression of the story are flawless and made everything easy to imagine. The characters, including the dogs, are entertaining, funny, and realistic. I was thoroughly shocked when I thought Riley and Susan were going to admit their feelings, only to have a major curveball thrown in. While I knew something had to happen, I was surprised and excited to see how everything would turn out.
