The Last Goodbye is the first book in the Seaside Sisters Series by Kay Lyons. This is the story of Dominic and Ireland as they realize how love has a way of coming into their lives without them looking for it. Ireland Cohen is a single mother with a young son. She runs an inn. She is trying hard to keep her son out of trouble, but nothing seems to be working. When Dominic Dunn arrives at the inn for a pre-planned trip by his late wife, she has no idea he will have such a positive impact on her son. Soon, Dominic and Ireland become friends, but both of them reject any chemistry that tries to sparkle. Dominic is learning to live without his wife and Ireland is trying to protect her heart from a man she knows will leave the moment his vacation ends. What will they do? Will they give in to their feelings or will they fight love?
The Last Goodbye by Kay Lyons is a beautiful story of finding love once again. I loved how real both Ireland and Dominic were. Both of them had something from their pasts that they were trying to get over, not jumping at the opportunity of something new coming into their lives. They were cautious, they were a little skeptical and that is what made them believable. They were hesitant to take a new step, they didn’t want to upset the balance. Author Kay Lyons did a good job of writing a complete story in limited pages. She gave the characters a goal, a purpose and then armed them with everything they needed to achieve those goals. The narrative is smooth, the pace is fast and the characters have a chance to grow. I loved this book!
