Life is incomplete until you have someone to love and to be loved by. Mouse, the main character in Ellen Paton’s The Little Blue Wren, felt alone and made millions of wishes upon stars that she would find a mouse companion. Finally, she discovered a small egg on her doorstep, which she nurtured until it hatched into a little blue wren. The two grew close to each other as Mouse made many affirmations and encouraging statements. Children are encouraged to be themselves and not try to be someone else. People often forget, but this book reminds them that laughter is good for you and that daily laughter adds time to your life. This is a sweet and encouraging story for all children. This book aims to make youngsters feel good about themselves just the way they are.

Whoever you are, be the best person you can be. Dr. Ellen Paton writes words of encouragement to children everywhere in this picture book, The Little Blue Wren.
