The Lost Elf by Sara Daniell is a children’s story written in simple rhyme about a little elf who longs to find a place to belong. The nameless elf has been living alone in the woods until one night Santa comes and takes her away to the North Pole. Going to the North Pole to build toys is the elf’s dream come true. The elf is happy to finally have a place where she fits in.

I thought that the illustrations were well drawn and eye catching. I read this with my four-year-old and she liked it simply because Santa and toys were involved. She also really liked that the elf was a girl. She had questions as to why the elf was alone. The elf finally finding her happy place was nice. It shows children that dreams can come true. I also liked that Daniell has the line: “Being different is okay.” I just wish that she'd put in a little bit more detail about why the elf was so different. In spite of the questions I have about this story, I did like it. Anything that makes my child smile earns a thumbs up from me. A cute story!
