The Magic of Misty Nook by Christine Skippens tells the story of a family from Castle Farm. One day, the elves at Misty Nook wake up to discover their courtyard full of animals. Where did they come from? A note from the Castle Family explains that they can no longer look after their animals, and they hope the good folk at the rescue can. The animals can’t understand why they are there. They weren’t mistreated; the Castle looked after them well, showering them with love and attention. Will they ever find the same kind of home again?
The Magic of Misty Nook: The Family at Castle Farm by Christine Skippens is a remarkable story with beautiful illustrations. It is divided into separate accounts, one for each of the animals from Castle Farm, and we learn their personalities and about their lives. This story is for kids who love animals and about how the rescue cares for them and helps them find their new homes. Part of the Misty Nook series, this is another fantastic tale, again told from the perspective of an actual rescue with real animals that they take in, goats, dogs, chickens, cows, and more, all with their recollections of how well they were treated before they were given up. This doesn’t just teach kids that animals should be cared for, it also teaches that, no matter how much you love and look after something, circumstances can change, and you may have to make a tough decision. Great story, perfectly written for its audience.
