The Night the Monsters Came by Junia Wonders is a fun kids' picture book. The hungry monsters are on the prowl, coming out of the woods, looking for something to eat. But Jack and Joy are ready for anything, dressed in their fancy costumes. The monsters are looking for sticky hands, dirty feet, and teeth that haven't been brushed, but to the monster's dismay, Jack and Joy are clean. Instead of being the stuff of dreams, Jack and Joy are the stuff of nightmares, at least for the monsters, and they are sent packing, whimpering and wailing into the night.

The Night the Monsters Came by Junia Wonders is a great kids' storybook with lovely illustrations that pop from every page. This is more than just a fun, rhyming story, though. It's about teaching kids that healthy, clean habits are a good thing. It teaches that by having their teeth brushed and their hands, feet, and faces washed before bedtime, the monsters won't come for them. This is a delightful story that will keep kids enthralled all the way through as they learn about the power of good hygiene. Lots of kids think they can get away with a lick and promise before bedtime, but this story teaches them that they can outwit the nighttime monsters if they wash properly and brush their teeth. This is a good story for youngsters who love weird and wacky characters, and the humor will appeal to lots of different kids. A great story that is well-written and has wonderful illustrations for teaching kids that it's never too early to practice good hygiene.
