Allie Kincade, a private investigator in San Fransisco, needed money. Her toxic on-and-off ex-boyfriend had just fired her from the PI firm he had started with the few bucks Allie got from her inheritance, promising to make her a full partner after that, which he never did. However, in a rare stroke of luck, Allie receives a high-paying job offer on the same day she is fired. Tarek Cassar, an enigmatic figure, wants her to go undercover as a princess in GrimmLand, a theme park built in LA by a European royal, to investigate the mysterious disappearances of the park actresses. But that is not all. Allie is supposed to work with Matt Wilcox, a handsome security engineer loyal to the European royal. Will Allie solve the mystery in GrimmLand Park? And what about the sparks and heat she feels whenever around Wilcox? Find out in Kerry Blaisdell's The Princess Shoppe.
You will not peel your eyes off the pages of this book until you have flipped it from cover to cover. Kerry Blaisdell’s The Princess Shoppe is a must-read for lovers of a gripping character-driven romance comedy with an unraveling backstory. Blaisdell is an incredibly gifted author and is now my favorite rom-com writer. Paying great attention to detail, but just enough not to bog down the pace, Blaisdell weaves an intriguing plot, featuring a dynamic and exciting cast. The sharp and witty dialogue accompanied by an edge of sarcasm alongside dramatic scenes gave the storyline a robustly humorous backdrop. The vivid imagery of the scenes colorfully brings them to life, making it feel like watching a Hollywood rom-com. Blaisdell effortlessly switches between introspection and drama, bringing out intricate emotions. Coupled with juxtaposing the characters' complex traits, this allowed me to connect with them. This is a rom-com classic. I loved it and look forward to reading more of Blaisdell’s amazing work.
