The Rain by E.C. Fisher is a tale of supernatural horror. The death of Charlie Hamilton at Camp High Tide leaves more questions than answers. Detective Daniel Nash is on the case and, when he looks into Charlie’s background, he finds something rather ominous. Thirty years ago, Timothy Waters went missing from Camp High Tide while Charlie was a caretaker. Long-forgotten records highlight five names – kids from the same time who were not kind to Timothy. Detective Nash brings them all in to answer questions, hoping that someone will reveal something about Timothy and Charlie. As rainstorms lash the town, those people who had connections with Timothy and Charlie begin dying. Each of the deaths is different, yet each one is the same. Can Nash solve all the cases before anyone else dies or will the rain wash everything away?
The Rain by E.C. Fisher is an eerie story, gripping, and very much a compulsive read. It may be a short story, but so much has been packed into it with plenty of twists and turns; a story that grabs you from the get-go. A book that makes me want to read all the way through in one sitting is a rare thing these days, but this one did. Mr. Fisher has done a great job of combining the chills of the supernatural with a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. It is a descriptive, well-written story with characters that are developed very well in a short space of time and is action-packed all the way. This is a suitable book for young adults upwards and I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants a quick but thrilling read.
