After inheriting Thornberry Manor, thirty-two-year-old Paisley Venne and her mother, Molly, had been busy transforming the property into a vacation retreat. However, this had set Paisley on a path of mystery and secrets. After putting on an emerald necklace she found at the manor, she had been taken back to 1829. It had been a year since this happened in 2024, and she could not bring herself to tell her boyfriend about it. On her return, the emerald was broken, and she had had it fixed with a ruby. This time, when she tries on the necklace again, she is taken back to 1858. She finds herself being the love interest of two men, each related to Thornberry Manor and its neighboring estate, Greystorm. She not only meets the current heir of the Greystorm residence, the image of his ancestor, but must face Finlay with the truth about her time-travelling. What will come of all this? Find out in Thornberry Manor: The Ruby by Anne K Hawkinson.
If you are looking for a romantic drama flavored with suspense, mystery, adventure, historical intrigue, and a touch of fantasy and science fiction, Thornberry Manor by Anne K Hawkinson is a must-read. The author weaves a compelling tale in this page-turner, the kind that latches on, only loosening its grip at the last word. With intimate, deliberate prose and dynamic, character-driven conversations, Hawkinson introduced me to a fascinating, well-crafted cast. Paisley is a complex character, and some of her decisions and actions had me questioning her loyalty to Finlay and, generally, the roles of partners in a relationship. The cinematic depictions vividly captured the settings, whether in the nineteenth or the twenty-first century. It felt like I was right there beside Paisley in every scene from the cozy tub dates in 2025 to the tense dinners in 1858, all in the same manor. The ending hints at a continuation of this story. I can’t wait to dive back into Paisley’s world.
