According to author Ame Cutler, taking an individualistic approach isn't enough to heal from generational trauma. In The Regeneration Process, Cutler presents a six-phase framework for recovery rooted in personal, ancestral, ecological, relational, and systematic foundations. The six phases include commitment, deconstruction, illumination, transformation, expansion, and regeneration. Healing depends upon dismantling those inherited and sustained internalized systems that lead to deep-rooted trauma internally, relationally, and institutionally. Cutler draws upon indigenous science, somatic psychology, and spiritual practices to offer tools to overcome transgenerational trauma. The book delves into the historical roots of global trauma, the impact of materialism and consumerism, systematic racism and oppression, and disconnection from community and nature in modern Eurocentric society. She urges readers to embrace the Indigenous mind, learn from ancestral wisdom, foster a willingness to change, engage in self-inquiry, pursue spiritual growth, and much more.

The Regeneration Process emphasizes the need for a complete overhaul of the healing process, offering a framework that relies on a societal perspective on transgenerational trauma rather than an individualistic one. Ame Cutler is a trauma theorist and spiritual practitioner. In this book, the author provides keen insights into healing from generational trauma based on historical, institutional, cultural, and societal influences. Cutler holds firm to the belief that transformation isn't possible without accountability. This is one of the most comprehensive books illustrating how trauma is passed down through generations. We, as a collective, must take steps to ensure transformation through sustaining action and intention, and this book perfectly encapsulates it. The author provides in-depth explanations of the concepts discussed, making sure all readers find them accessible and helpful. It's an illuminating guide that I highly recommend to everyone.
