Author Biography

Maggie Allen is a writer, student, and environmental activist from Orlando, Florida. Her first full-length novel, The Return, was published in June 2010, with the sequel following a year later. She currently lives in Seattle, Washington, where she is working on her master's in marine policy. She hopes to one day own a husky, raise chickens, and find time to both write and protect the oceans for future generations.

Something strange and dark is hiding in Africa, but no one is certain just what it wants. When Virginia and her family head to Africa on a two-week trip, they expect to experience the wilderness. What they don’t expect is two months trapped in a small building, waiting to die. Something is happening to them and no one is sure why. The only ones who seem to have any idea are their tour guide, Nick, and a girl who claims to know the Black Force personally. But what does that force want with them? How can they get back to their own lives and their own civilization? No one is certain and, as time passes, life becomes even more difficult in The Return by Maggie Allen.

This book is one that will keep you guessing. You’ll never be completely sure what’s going on and you’ll definitely be curious about the characters. Virginia is an average teenage girl and she’s someone anyone can relate to. Characters like Jennifer, Miley and Caitlin will draw you even further into the story. This is a tale of the supernatural but it is also a story of something more. There are great characters and an interesting plot at the same time. The Return by Maggie Allen is a story you will want to learn even more about. You’ll be interested in what happens next to the characters and you’ll be left guessing by the end. There’s something strange going on in Africa, but will anyone find out what it is?
