The Ridders is a work of fiction in the psychological and political thriller subgenres. It is intended for the adult reading audience owing to some moderate scenes of violence and explicit language used throughout and was penned by author Lisa Towles. In this tense novel where life is on the line and the stakes just keep getting higher, our protagonist BJ is a private investigator who is made a million-dollar offer to deliver a suspicious envelope. Unable to resist temptation, BJ investigates the importance of the envelope and finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into a dangerous organized crime underworld, one which has many secrets about his own family.
Author Lisa Towles really knows how to hook a reader in from minute one, with an array of entertaining characters, snappy dialogue, and a twisting plot that always has you peeking around the next corner. There was something very engrossing about the investigative narrative that made it genuinely difficult to put this book down. The threads come together so well that you’re always puzzling out the clues and trying to guess what the Bilderberg Group is really up to. I also really enjoyed BJ’s development as a central character as he is put to the test by the danger that he gets himself into and it really builds the character into someone you have great respect and empathy for. Overall, The Ridders has lots to offer readers seeking tension, suspense, action, and thrills from beginning to end.
