In The Scarred Santa by Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy, the author has taken a subject that is very delicate, precious, and controversial and handled it with the utmost care and grace. Lee Ann catches the reader's attention and holds their attention throughout the whole book. The reader is shown in a gentle yet firm way what happens to people who have visible scars and how people treat them and how they actually feel. It brings to light how cruel we can be without really thinking and how mean people can be just because they can.
Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy has written a romance that has all the normal ups and downs that go with people finding their way through the maze of feelings involved when love is young and they still trying to find their feet. The main characters are Rafe and his brothers Mike and Gabe, Sheena Dunmore, Mrs. Gallagher, and Rafe’s mom. There are numerous minor characters that come and go and all take time to bring the story to life in the most beautiful way.
The author has written a timeless tale of love and it could fit into any decade, but this story takes place before Covid19. It is a lovely light read and would suit a young adult as well as a more mature reader as the message that the author conveys is profound. Thank you to the author for being brave enough to tackle a topic like this and turn it into a beautiful love story. I really enjoyed reading this book.
