The SeaOx is a terrorist thriller written by Terrence (T) Mault. Andre Laurent is the skipper of the SeaOx, his Hans Christian Pilothouse Sailboat, a recent acquisition and one he was looking to spend many hours aboard. He had stopped at a marina in Brest for gas and supplies, but, while he was loading the groceries onto his boat, he was rendered unconscious by an unseen assailant. His attacker stripped him and hung him by his harness, and Andre woke up disoriented and in pain. When the man appeared, he was wearing Andre's clothing and appeared to be young, fit, and with a military bearing. He knew altogether too much about both sailing and Andre's financial affairs. The stranger forced Andre to agree to a sale and transfer of his boat and then to cash out his T-bills. Andre wondered just when he'd be killed by his captor, and the drugs he had been doped with ensured he could do nothing about it.
Terrence (T) Mault's terrorist thriller, The SeaOx, SeaOx Series, Book 1, is fast-paced and exciting. The Basque terrorist, Teddy Pelling, is a sociopath whose attack on Andre Laurent seems random and unprovoked. It's only later that the reader begins to realize the web of intrigue that's led to the hijacking of the SeaOx. Mault's plot is filled with action and adventure as the Surete attempt to close in on Pelling and his ETA control, Raoul de Vascos. Lieutenant Bizet of the Surete is a compelling character who has his own personal reasons for tracking down the two terrorists. I enjoyed the nautical theme that runs throughout the story and hope the continuing books in this series enlarge upon the concept of action and adventure at sea, rather than on land as was the case in a large part in this book. The SeaOx does contain violence and a number of erotic scenes, something prospective readers may want to consider.
