Wouldn't it be good if we saw each other as human beings instead of our skin color, gender, religion, culture, or other barriers? One day three friends, Ram, Selina, and Lauryn, reflected on how they enjoyed and loved spending time together but didn't fully understand why they had to keep their friendship a secret. Soon there was a ceremony where they were each fitted with Seeing glasses. After receiving the glasses, they discovered that the lives that they once had together would be changed forever. The Seeing: Inspiring Picture Book About Diversity, Friendship and Racism by Lashay Davis, with beautiful illustrations by Maria Burobkina, tells the story of seeing the world as it is through the eyes of children. This book is an excellent learning tool that will open children's minds as they begin to reflect on the essence of the story about being different as it continues to unfold.

This picture book offers a great beginning to have those sensitive conversations with our children. Children are very impressionable and take things in like a sponge but they also realize that they have the power to alter and enhance things around them that either no longer suit them, or need a boost. I enjoyed how Ram, Selina, and Lauryn not only got their power back but were able to influence positive change, not only with the grownups but within their town. The Seeing by Lashay Davis provides the proper channel and recipe for revamping the old guard ways of life about diversity while embracing inclusivity. Get your copy today. Highly recommended.
