James Flynn, the charming mental patient with a license to kill, is back in The Spy Who Hated Me by Haris Orkin. Join James as he gets ready for a new, even crazier adventure with his trusted friend and psychiatric nurse, Sancho. Caitlyn Valentine, the beautiful CIA agent and the love of his life, has gone AWOL. But when Dr. Michaels, the head psychiatrist, finds Flynn in a compromising position with none other than his wife, Dr. Michaels decides to take drastic steps involving shock therapy. However, due to Flynn’s stealth and professional skill, he finds himself on the streets of London, the last place Caitlyn was seen alive. Except it is not Caitlin he meets but Anya, the unhappy wife of the vicious Russian terrorist Oleg Ivanov. She has a devious plan to destroy Oleg, one that can only succeed with Flynn’s help. But can Flynn survive the wrath of a Russian terrorist or is this all just one of James Flynn’s grander delusions?

Hilarious from beginning to end, The Spy Who Hated Me is an action-packed novel that will have fans laughing at the drama and situations Flynn and his entourage find themselves in. Although the novel is meant to be funny, there is also another aspect that is important to look at; Flynn’s background story. Flynn’s childhood wasn’t the best, and it has contributed hugely to the state he is in today. Haris Orkin is a gifted writer who draws sympathy from readers and understands the complexities of human nature. Many people suffer from delusionary disorders such as schizophrenia, and it always has sad connotations, so it was interesting to learn that Flynn functioned better in his delusionary state. These made Flynn’s escapades even more fun. The Spy Who Hated Me entertains with the kind of humor that will have readers clutching their sides with mirth. I recommend The Spy Who Hated Me to fans of romantic comedies and spy novels.
