The Story of Eidolon by Jenessa Gayheart is a young adult science fiction that reads like a mysterious ghost story. Hickory Stevens lives in a world called Porla, which was rebuilt by a few survivors after the end of the world. The Council calls the end of the world "Before" and no one is allowed to research the history of the world "Before." In fact, Captain Baltimore's decree is "Forward is All that Matters." But Hickory accidentally discovers an ancient ghost who lived in the time of "Before." He is propelled by curiosity to discover his ancestor's secrets. His journey into this discovery sets him on a path that threatens to change his village forever.

This is a really cool premise and well-executed. It is like a post apocalyptic ghost story that swirls around an interesting and forbidden mystery. So this story will appeal to readers of science fiction, mystery, magical realism, and post apocalyptic stories about the end of the world and the world's rebuilding. This book, which is a combination of three stories, takes the reader on an incredible adventure through the future, but also the past, looking back on what happened to the old world and how that influenced the new world. The history and issues that the author is able to describe directly relate to issues that readers are facing in today's world, making this story very timely and interesting as the subjects compare. Nice job!
