Haris Marath offers a rigorous exploration of humanity's biological, social, cultural, and civilizational history and potential future in The Theory of Us. According to Marath, humanity can be viewed through three diagnostic premises, including the selfish gene, the illusion of free will, and the apparent absence of an interventionist god. The author explains how a struggle for dominance in the political sphere stems from the genetic imperative for power. He delves into the two extremes of human programming: altruism and psychopathy. Marath argues that only a catastrophe can change the status quo and cites transformative revolutions in France and Russia to emphasize his argument. This book explores AI and how it can create an illusion of choice, and its implications for the future of humanity. It also covers how human societies develop different systems for conditioning.

The Theory of Us: The Final Diagnosis of the Human Species is a thought-provoking book. It examines humanity through the lens of evolutionary biology, history, societal, religious, and cultural influences. Haris Marath takes a deep dive into the foundations of what has driven the course of humanity throughout history and offers keen insights as to what to expect in the near future with the advent of AI. The author touches upon some complex ideas and concepts in this book, but presents them in a way that makes them easy to understand. Every topic is explored in great depth, with Marath providing thorough explanations to ensure readers fully grasp the content. This is one of the best books I have read on the human experience, as it covers almost all the factors that make humans the way they are. Highly recommended.
