The Tooth Fairy Letters, written and illustrated by Tim, Kristen, Courtney, and Caitlin Frank and the Tooth Fairy, is a fun and informative book. Tim Frank encouraged his three daughters to write a letter to the Tooth Fairy and include it with the tooth they left under their pillows. This is a collection of those letters and the Tooth Fairy's responses to them! Each set of pages includes the letter to the Tooth Fairy filled with interesting questions, a small illustration, and the Tooth Fairy's return letter answering their inquiries. At the beginning of the book, there is a most informative section about teeth, detailing the differences between baby and permanent teeth and why we lose them.
As a former children's librarian, I routinely fielded requests from parents for books about the Tooth Fairy and losing your teeth. The Tooth Fairy Letters is the perfect book to fill those needs. I love that it includes the section containing information about when and why kids lose their teeth and that it reassures them it is a normal part of growing up. The Tooth Fairy Letters by each of the girls will answer many of the same questions that all kids are curious about, like "Can You Fly?" and "Why Do You Collect Teeth?" The Tooth Fairy even answers that all-important question about why my tooth is still under my pillow! The illustrations are sweet and simple. Tim, Kristen, Courtney, Caitlin Frank, and the Tooth Fairy have provided a clever and unique book about an experience that is shared by all children.
