The Treasure of Lor-Rev by Bryan Asher follows the journey of Jared, a young man who, upon searching a hidden cave in the deserted Kal mountain range, discovers an item that is one piece of a very important puzzle. A puzzle leading to the device known as the Diffusor-Sphere was developed by the engineers Johan and Daemon. Daemon, once known as Devlice, seeks the sphere in order to remove the limitations set on his new cybernetic body. Once he has the full range of his abilities, he seeks to remake the world into his vision of perfection. In this race for the sphere, who will uncover its whereabouts first?
The Treasure of Lor-Rev by Bryan Asher is a riveting book filled with excitement and adventure. With a cast of unique characters set in this almost post-apocalyptic setting, you cannot help but get hooked. The world-building within the story is absolutely amazing. From the descriptions of Lor-Rev to the technological similarities and differences to the real world, you are easily able to picture this world in your mind’s eye. I particularly took a liking to Kanna as she represents a strong female character who plays an important supporting role within the story itself. I like the fact that she can hold her own surrounded by a cast of male characters and surely doesn’t need any of their protection. Overall, I found this to be a very enjoyable book and would highly recommend it to fans of sci-fi novels.
