The Unknowns by Abby Summers in a young adult fantasy novel that takes six teenagers, including the main character, Alex, and dumps them in a strange forest. Together the teenagers travel to Ataxia, as it seems they have been chosen for a reason to be part of something bigger than themselves. Maybe it has something to do with the war between Ataxia and Malum. But Alex doesn't know who to trust. So she decides to trust in herself and take matters into her own hands. When she discovers the true reason that she and the others were brought to Ataxia, she realizes that she is in more danger than she could have ever imagined. The months of training for a war they were hoping to prevent couldn't prepare Alex for the truth and what she knows now. All she knows is the war has already begun, and she's stuck in the middle of it, whether she likes it or not.

This is a very interesting, unique young adult fantasy written by an author who obviously knows and loves this genre. I think it will appeal to readers who are also fans of this genre. They will love the rich, deep world building and the painstaking details the author takes the time to explain and show the reader. Although this could sometimes get overwhelming, it was also very beautiful and will be appreciated by readers of this genre who enjoy this style of writing. Nice job!
