A family holiday goes horribly wrong for Olympia Blunt when aliens invade Earth, killing millions of the planet's inhabitants, including her parents, and take her and several other human survivors to work on their home world of Borgomom. Olympia initially refuses to bend the knee, and her defiance attracts the attention of the heir apparent to the throne, Adlai, who takes her under his wing as he gradually becomes attached to her. Olympia has no intention of remaining a captive on an alien planet light-years away from her home and plots to escape. Will her daring plans succeed, or will the growing feeling of attraction she is developing toward her captor lead to her ultimate failure? Only time will tell in G.J. Krefft's The Untouchable.
The Untouchable is the first book in G.J. Krefft's The Untouchable series. The world-building is incredibly detailed, with Krefft explaining the roles and importance of each planet in the Borgomom planetary system. The extensive detailing extends to Borgomom's cultures and intricate power structure, which will appeal to science fiction purists. Action enthusiasts will like that Krefft gives equal attention to the battle machinery and combat episodes as to Adlai's fascinating attempts to get Olympia's attention. This balance in the narrative style creates an intriguing romantic subplot. A graduated pace subtly builds from sedate to breakneck as the narrative approaches its conclusion. Krefft does a beautiful job of weaving all these elements together into a riveting adventure that will keep romance, action, and science fiction enthusiasts glued to this novel from start to finish.
