Love is a beautiful color, wouldn’t you agree? Imagine being a flower, born into a world full of beautiful colors, only you have no color yourself. What would you do? Trade with someone or something for some color. Well, one unusual flower found very creative means to get some color and some of it involved helping others, showing compassion, kindness, and generosity. In other words, showing love. After all, color is for the eyes, while love is for the soul which brightens all things so that they are beautiful. A little girl takes pictures of all kinds of birds but is sad not to see her favorite bird, the cardinal. She loves red and cardinals are red. What she learns is to have faith and be patient and then she will see her favorite bird and capture its image with her camera.

There are so many stories one can share to teach people about love, compassion, kindness and so much more. Aisha Bakhrani is a young author, but a very creative one. The Unusual Flower: And Other Short Stories for Children is a clever collection of parables, folk stories, really, that teach important life values to young readers. There are some bright, colorful illustrations to accompany each story. The writing is mature and the plot well developed with beautiful characterization and scene descriptions. This young writer has a lot of talent and a great mind for storytelling. The stories will leave the young reader smiling and wanting to read more. Beautifully told. Keep writing.
