Authors Megan Engelhardt and Mark Beall bring readers a gripping tale of supernatural horror in The Way We Used to Walk. Charlie, his wife Mona, and his friends Smitha, Alice, Inez, and Joe were close in college until an extraordinary event made them drift apart. The six friends accidentally stumbled upon a portal through which monsters invaded their world. Charlie somehow acquired the knowledge to repel those monsters using an ancient language. However, in trying to close the portal, he lost his wife while his friends lost all memories of that event. Now, fifteen years later, the monsters are back, and his friends are estranged. Can Charlie and his friends overcome their personal struggles and come together to close the portal once and for all? Will they be able to save the world?

Packed to the brim with suspense, mystery, and intrigue, The Way We Used to Walk is an edge-of-your-seat horror novel that provides thrills and chills galore. Authors Megan Engelhardt and Mark Beall reel you in with a fascinating premise and keep you invested in the story with brilliant character dynamics and a plot that is as unpredictable as it is engrossing. You never know what to expect at any point in the book. The stakes always seem high because you're unsure if your favorite characters will make it out alive by the end. The narrative is well-paced, featuring many twists and turns along the way. I enjoyed the different relationship dynamics between Charlie and his friends. Overall, I absolutely loved the book. If you're a fan of supernatural horror, do not miss out on this novel!
