If you enjoy reading sleuth mysteries, then The White Russian Caper (A Damien Dickens Mystery) by Phyllis Entis is a book you might like. It begins with Damien Dickens, a private investigator, who is called in by a local hotel to find Cynthia, the missing Miss America. When Damien locates Cynthia, she is barely alive, but before she loses consciousness she entrusts him with a coin. Curious as to why she would give her life for a coin, he takes it to a qualified numismatist and discovers that it is priceless. From there, Damien goes to his next appointment with an influential hotel magnate, Derek Turpin, and takes on the offered job to check out some vandalism that has recently increased at Mr. Turpin's prospective investment location. While scoping out the location, Damien and his new wife, Millie, will go on an all expenses paid, two-week honeymoon in Hollywood, Florida. After Damien leaves Mr. Turpin, he puts in a call to Bruno, hires him to protect Cynthia, and arranges to meet him at the hospital. Unfortunately, Damien is hijacked on the way to the hospital. With her husband missing, his client dead, and all the clues leading to Hollywood, Millie and Bruno catch the flight that she and Damien were to take. With Bruno's help, Millie takes over the investigation and the plot continues to thicken.

I thought The White Russian Caper (A Damien Dickens Mystery) by Phyllis Entis was a sensational book. It was close enough to a cozy mystery to make me happy. The twists and turns in the story kept me guessing all the way to the end. There is a lot going on in this story. The changing view points can be a little confusing, but this book is definitely worth reading. It has murder, kidnapping, a touch of history, and more. Another thing I admired about The White Russian Caper was the relationship between Millie and Damien. They worked together so well, like the blades of a pair of scissors. They reminded me of the lovable couple, Charlie and Nicola Buchanan, from the Australian television cozy mystery series, Mr. and Mrs. Murder. Two people in love, doing what they love together, which of course is solving murders!
