Teddy Roberts is not content to play within view of his new home in Monroe, Michigan in Theodore Roberts & The Key to The Imaginary Door by J.R. Robinson. Wandering through the woods with his brother, Teddy comes upon a rusted gate across the path. All of a sudden, the portal opens and Teddy is separated from his brother. In spite of promising not to move, Teddy wanders deeper into the woods, stumbling upon a fairy, and he follows her to fulfill his destiny. As the ‘Child of the Outer World’, it is up to Teddy to drive back the evil that has threatened to destroy the kingdom of the fairies, known only to children with the power of imagination. As too many children grow up too quickly, the darkness spreads across the land, trapping the Keeper of the Tree of Life and her partner, the Fairy Prince. Teddy, using the power of his imagination, travels to the castle to confront Evil and try to restore the balance of good and bad, light and dark. Will Teddy be strong enough to help his new friends and prevent the destruction of their world?
J.R. Robinson uses plenty of imagination in bringing the adventures of Teddy to light in Theodore Roberts & The Key to The Imaginary Door. This book is delightful with plenty of wonderful characters and exciting action. Well written and easy to follow, the chapters are perfect for younger readers to enjoy and the story moves along at a comfortable yet enticing pace. The world of the fairies is enchanting with the Fairy City made of tremendous trees, the City of Birds above the clouds, a frightening maze, rainbow waterfalls and a magnificent castle. It is easy to feel as though you are travelling alongside Teddy, hoping that everything will work out fine. Wonderful book that is a delight to read and imparts a worthwhile message (or two!). I love the characters and their interactions are quite realistic in spite of the fantasy setting. This is a must-read for fantasy story lovers of all ages.
