Thicker Than Blood is the third book in the Sista’s series by Anne Marie Citro; an emotionally charged love story. Dakota Martineau’s life seems perfect, with a job and a family that showers her with affection. But everything changes when she gets into an accident and finds herself helped by the paramedic who once was the love of her life — the handsome Caden Ross. He has always regretted losing his dream girl. But then the discovery that Dakota’s life depends on him sends him through an emotional turmoil he’s never experienced before at an accident scene. He will do everything to save her life, and can it be this is a chance to do things right this time?
The story begins with a dramatic event, with Dakota having an accident while driving her 2013 red Bug. Readers will enjoy the characters, especially Dakota, a stunning woman who pays little attention to her physical beauty and whose humanity finds its expression in her kindness and caring for children with special needs. Anne Marie Citro has the gift of understanding and communicating the seasons of the human heart in prose that is enjoyable and flawless. The characters are so real that it’s hard not to feel for them. The plot is cleverly imagined and cunningly executed, and this author knows how to make readers stay with her characters. While the prose is finely done, the author creates dialogues that are as real as they are exciting. This is a beautiful story that proves how love can be Thicker Than Blood, an inspiring and entertaining read.
