Thirteen Graves by Orion Grace is a psychological thriller about a dysfunctional family whose time has come to atone for their sins. The Morrison family is spending their annual Christmas get-together with their usual side-eyes, cold shoulders, and general mistrust of each other. But this year, the Morrisons are in for a nasty surprise. There’s a psychotic killer intent on making the family pay for past hurts. Thirteen graves have been dug, and with them come a twisted set of mind games. As each grave is filled, the family gets closer to the truth of what really happened to the family member who disappeared nineteen years ago. But which family member was responsible for the tragedy, and will their retribution come close to what two parents have suffered for nearly two decades? Thirteen Graves will have you reeling from shock and scrambling to recover in time for the next insane twist.

Thirteen Graves’ foreboding tone, unpredictable twists, and perfectly executed revelations attest to the brilliant mind of the author, Orion Grace. The psychological trauma at the hands of a narcissistic matriarch and her refusal to take responsibility for the role she played in the family’s demise is a reality many families face. Favoritism, jealousy, and hate within a family always carry consequences, as is portrayed in this narrative. I found the alternating viewpoints intriguing and suspenseful as I formed personal connections with the characters, yet still second-guessed them all. Miscommunication also played a significant role in the family, causing bitterness and toxicity. A suspenseful thriller, nothing will prepare you for the ending. This book is on my top 5 list for best psychological thrillers in 2025.
