Til Text Do Us Part by Tina Griffith introduces readers to Louisiana Hobbs, an award-winning murder mystery writer, a thirty-year-old woman with an incredible imagination. She has no siblings, grew up as a tomboy, and a recluse, and now she is a successful crime writer. But she has a big problem: her writings have inspired a stalker, a killer who transforms texts from her novels into chilling murder crimes. Louie does not understand the motive behind the crimes and as she works with Detective Brody Anson to unravel the mystery, her life is in danger. She might be the next target. While working on the case, Louie and Detective Brody begin to have a strong connection, but will they allow their emotions to lead them?
Til Text Do Us Part is suspenseful and filled with mystery, and the author is an expert in creating a romance that is heartfelt and absorbing. While this novel can be read as a crime mystery, it is also a love story that is intelligently written. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the connection between Louie and Brody is not explosive and immediate, but one that seems to grow naturally as they get to know each other. And that makes the story more realistic and suspenseful. The plot is unpredictable, and while it is easy to surmise that the two key characters might eventually end up together, the author skillfully builds the suspense on that idea. Tina Griffith’s novel is one that I absolutely adored and the author’s gift for characterization is very notable in the way she develops the protagonist, exploring her background and elements that make her the way she is. It is a fast-paced and enjoyable read.
