Tracy Tractor and the Little People by Collins Trafton Robertson is a sweet, wholesome story with a bit of magic. Tracy Tractor lives on Farmer Bean's farm, where he helps the farmer with all his tasks. One day Farmer Bean is sick, and the crops need to be harvested. With the help of the little people, who are not visible to grown-ups, Tracy Tractor gathers up his cousins to get the job done. His cousins are a wide variety of other working machines, like a crane and a bulldozer. Under cover of darkness Tracy, his cousins, and the little people get to work. Will they be able to harvest the crops before the sun comes up?
Tracy Tractor and the Little People is a charming story filled with solid virtues and great storytelling. Collins Trafton Robertson wrote this story back in the thirties and his son and granddaughter have brought it to life. Tracy and his friends do not hesitate to help one another out. The addition of the little people will delight and enchant young readers. The illustrations by Katie Roen are outstanding. Tracy is full of personality with his big eyes and bright red color. The little people are small, green, and leaflike. Sharp-eyed readers will be able to spot them throughout the story. Robertson has included something for everyone; kids who like farming, big machines, or wee little creatures will love this tale. Parents and grandparents will appreciate having a story with beautiful illustrations and a worthwhile message. The perfect choice for your next storytime session.
