Traveler by Alien Vega is an inspirational, emotional rollercoaster of a read. Josef finds himself in deep contemplation about the meaning of life when a feeling nudges him to check out the attic. There, he discovers a book from his grandfather’s collection that tugs at his heartstrings. It awakens a desire to go on a journey to find where he belongs. And so, he sets out with no clear destination. All he knows is that he cannot stay home. Hence, he sets out into the cold darkness of the night as heavy snow falls all around him. The journey is not an easy one. Will Josef make it to his destination? Will he recognize the end of his trip without a map? This journey is one worth following along.
I greatly enjoyed reading Traveler by Alien Vega. I think it is a compliment to Vega’s writing that this adventure is reminiscent of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and The Pilgrim’s Regress by C.S. Lewis. It was easy to become emotionally invested in Josef. He is resilient, sometimes misguided, but willing to learn. I also love the cast of characters that he meets. I appreciate that while theyare symbols of life lessons, they also have a depth that is masterfully communicated through their simple mannerisms. In addition, I appreciate that Vega addresses the importance of facing our fears and struggling with difficult thoughts and situations to reach true peace. This is a very well-paced, short read. I highly recommend Traveler by Alien Vega to all readers.
