Trigger Point is a work of fiction in the interpersonal drama, grief and loss, romance, and disability representation subgenres. It is suitable for the general adult reading audience, although it does contain some sensitive content around death and loss. Penned by author Juliet Rose, this heartfelt literary drama takes on the epic emotional journey of our central protagonist Zoey Sanders, who works in a mountain rescue service. Whilst beginning to bond with her new co-worker, Micah, who is deaf, a heart-breaking event pushes Zoey to the edge. As Zoey struggles not to alienate everyone and recede into her own world of grief and pain, a glimmer of hope for the future slowly begins to show.

Author Juliet Rose has crafted an accomplished work of interpersonal drama with a deep emotional core that is sure to have readers crying buckets at certain points when the tension is at its highest. Loss is never easy, and this author doesn’t shy away from the reality and unpredictability of pain and how irrational and wild it can make us when we can’t make sense of the world around us anymore. I loved the attention to detail in the dialogue and character narrative elements, as this allowed us a very close and personal examination of Zoey and Micah, their differences, and the way that they can complement and support one another as they grow closer. The work also represents the deaf community in a sensitive, realistic, and inclusive way, which was deeply refreshing to read. Overall, Trigger Point is a highly engaging literary adventure novel with a lot more to it than meets the eye as you dive in and I’d highly recommend it.
