Uncorked by Michael Verrett is a children’s story. Nisey the mouse is happy in her house. She has a beautiful cork with a purple band and gold letters on it; a cork that she uses for sitting on and doing her knitting. One night, a terrible storm took the roof off the house and rain poured in. Grabbing her pink lipstick, a ball of pink wool, her knitting needles, her pink purse, and her frying pan, she gets onto the cork and floats safely out of the house. Now starts her search for a new home, but first she must fight past the perils and the dangers of the big world. Will Nisey find herself a new home? And what dangers must she face on the long journey? Join Nisey on the adventure of a lifetime and follow her on her long journey to find a new place to live.

Uncorked by Michael Verrett is a great book for kids. It is packed full of wonderful colorful pictures that illustrate the story very well. The story itself is neat and well written with a nice plot. I thought the story was the perfect length – not too short and not so long that a child would get bored with it. It is written in easy to understand language, perfectly aimed at the younger age groups. I can see this being a book that children will want to read over and over again and is certainly one that I would want for my grandchildren.
