The strife between the darkness and the Underworld continues in the third book of the War of the Chaotic Worlds 1 (Otherworld Trilogy) by Hermione Lee. After the tragedy that befell them the previous December, Alexandria was on her guard. She can’t help but think back on the past and realizes that perhaps if they had been more vigilant, other tragedies could have been prevented. Now she has to be even more careful with the brewing tension between the Otherworld and the Underworld almost reaching its peak. With the deteriorating trust among her people and the possibility of war on the horizon, it seems as if it is only a matter of time before everything collapses, and the Otherworld will fall into devastation. Problems seem to pile up for Alexandria and her friends. After facing so many tragedies and the threat of war, they have become extra alert and suspicious of everyone around them. The constant mistrust takes its toll, especially with an unidentified spy still among them.
Despite the seemingly endless difficulties and trials headed their way, there were still things to look forward to, like being accepted as one of the Elders. I couldn’t help but be on the edge of my seat. I could feel the strain in the Otherworld as people grew to doubt each other and I truly admired Alexandria and her friends for their determination to put things right and celebrate milestones, despite the tension in the air. Even when things do go south, they fight back and try to develop trust and support. Alexandria and her allies are characters that have left a strong impression on me and I looked forward to their growth in every chapter! Hermione Lee has created an enticing third book fraught with challenges and it is hard to pull away! War of the Chaotic Worlds 1 (Otherworld Trilogy) is ramping up its sequel to be the most memorable and explosive book of all! I can’t contain my excitement for the follow-up by Hermione Lee and I will cheer for Alexandria and her allies to the very end!
