In Welcome Back to the World, Rob Davidson offers readers an enthralling collection of six short stories and a novella. A university budget analyst unwittingly becomes the subject of an eccentric street photographer who helps bring out his inner artist. A heartbroken American expat in Taiwan unexpectedly comes across someone with whom he can share his story. A camping trip goes horribly wrong for a father and his young son after they encounter a bear in the woods. A Hollywood filmmaker travels to Basque country and soon begins a quest in search of a legendary, reclusive actor to reinvent himself. In the titular novella "Welcome Back to the World," a young man leaves his monastic life after discovering his master's disgrace and finds sanctuary in the home of his carefree brother.
Rob Davidson's engrossing collection of tales explores different facets of the human experience. These stories follow protagonists from diverse backgrounds, each battling with unexpected trials and tribulations life throws their way while trying to navigate family, friendships, and love. There is so much to love about this book. Davidson's characters display a wide range of emotions and personalities that readers are bound to find captivating. The dialogue is sharp, and the character interactions keep your eyes glued to the pages. Each story drew me in from the very first page, and I didn't put the book down before finishing it. All in all, it's a fantastic short story collection.
