What Are Super Grandmas Made Of? A Tribute to Grandmothers Everywhere by Carmen Parets Luque is a picture book that shows us how grandmas can be like superheroes. They may look ordinary, old, and wrinkly with white or graying hair, but behind that appearance are superpowers that can make us feel important and special. To find, accept, and appreciate their powers, one needs to focus attention and keenly observe them. We must be aware of the little things they do because that’s what makes them precious and leaves us feeling loved and cared for. The book also tells us that they have different types of superpowers, enumerating and describing the different kinds of super-grandmas that we may encounter. It also teaches us how to love them back so that we can maintain and even add to their powers. Later, the author asks readers to write down adjectives that best describe their own grandmother.
