God Bless you, Dr. Lesslie, for sharing these amazing and inspiring true stories with us. While movies portray doctors as having a "God complex," it is clear that this author, Robert Lesslie, MD, recognizes that angels show up in the form of mere humans and make such a difference in the life of a patient.
Taking from his 25+ years of experience as an emergency room physician, Dr. Lesslie has put together a book filled with real life stories of things he witnessed in the hospital. What makes this book so endearing is that it is taken from real life true stories. Interspersed throughout the book were wonderful quotes and scripture references. I like how he started the book out with a quote from Saint Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary, use words." So true.
The author introduces us to patients who have asthma, are badly burned, and children with insulin-dependent diabetes who are touched by people who care for them, show them love, and make a difference in their lives. He provides personal details about each of these patients and their "angels" that make the characters come to life as if we knew them ourselves. Those healthcare providers and volunteers who commit their time to healing the bodies of the sick are also often healing their souls.
This is a warm and fuzzy, awe-inspiring, feel-good book that anyone would enjoy reading.
