Willow is a very excitable puppy. In Leisa Fail’s Willow’s Journey, Willow is too full of energy for the families who try to bring her into their homes. At three months of age, Willow has lived in three different homes. Will she ever find her forever family and forever home? After days in yet another shelter, Willow is adopted by Charlie and Chris. They were bringing a horse into their family, too, Stormy Normy, who Willow thinks is a big dog. A bond develops even though Willow isn’t the quiet dog Charlie was hoping for.
Leisa Fail’s early chapter book, Willow’s Journey, is a quick and easy read that will appeal to young readers. The language is simple and easy to follow, which will help youngsters improve their reading skills. The plot develops smoothly, and dialogue is used sparingly but effectively. I love the way Willow communicates with other dogs in the shelter and with the latest addition to her new home, the ‘Big Dog,’ Stormy Normy. This is a great story to introduce young readers to the importance of patience when working with young dogs. It also teaches them about staying true to themselves, even if things don’t appear to be going the way they think things should. The story is filled with wisdom, kindness, caring, and love as Willow finally settles into her forever home. This little bundle is full of energy and hope and will inspire young readers to enjoy her antics and carefree, loving nature.
