Author Biography

Christopher Justin Moneymaker was born November 15th 1973 on a Coast Guard Base on Kodiak Island off the coast of Alaska.
In 1976, Chris and his family moved to Oliver Springs, Tennessee. His new home was the perfect location to seed and nurture his boundless imagination. The house had been in his mother’s family for four generations. It contained many antique treasures and a yard full of ancient trees.
The first ten years of Chris’s adult life he looked for a career that was fulfilling, but found nothing. He was a construction worker, a cable guy, and a restaurant manager but always longed for a way to make a living with his creativity. After September 11th, 2001, Chris joined the army and was involved in the invasion of Iraq.
In 2005, Chris enrolled at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Nashville. There he met his co-author Ellick Bottoms. Ellick invited Chris to help with a story he and a friend were working on. After several months Ellick’s friend dropped out of the writing process and took his part of the story with him. They decided to write a new story that would allow them to keep the parts they had already worked so hard on. Eventually that story evolved into their first book, “World Beyond the Maelstrom Gate”.
Chris now lives in Tennessee with his wife Jolene and his stepdaughter Atira. He works in construction and writes in his spare time.

"World Beyond the Maelstrom Gate" features a group of multicultural college students. They are brought together when Daniel, an aspiring astronomer in his sophomore year, discovers an error in the calculated path of a small meteor. Daniel and his roommates determine the meteor landed near a small town, in east Tennessee, and so they decide to go hunting for it. Daniel enlists the help of six friends Michael, Darick, Jamar, Diana, Liliana, and Kimoko, who pack up their camping gear and head for a weekend adventure. After a long day of searching, they finally stumble onto the strangest meteor Daniel has ever seen. When Kimoko grabs the odd object out of a pit and it begins to spins, then it disintegrates. The seven meteorite hunters soon find themselves in another world. They become other-worldly beings, dressing themselves in strange clothing and armor that they find. They make their way through sludge and slime, fight off huge moths, zombies, monstrous caterpillars, and hoards of rat men to name a few. In their other-worldly forms, each member becomes a valiant fighter, helping and healing each other along the treacherous way. Will they survive attack after brutal attack?

"World Beyond the Maelstrom Gate" is filled with descriptive action throughout its 500 pages. The plot continues as the group engages in battle after battle. This action packed fantasy has suspense and humor. The characters are believable and the creatures that must be faced are nasty and not easily destroyed. This is a book that fantasy thriller lovers will adore.
