Author Beyr Reyes has dedicated several years to teaching and mentoring writers and has founded ShadeTree Publishing. Her passion is especially for Christian writers and she helps them get started in their careers. Your Write Calling: Is Writing Right for You? will help you determine why you want to be a Christian writer, what you hope to accomplish, and even whether it is a good decision for you. Reyes tells stories from the Bible about those who obeyed God, even when He told them to do difficult things or things that might make them the subject of ridicule. For instance, when Samuel was a young child, he heard the clear call of God even though Eli the priest did not hear God call him. Eli did, however, instruct Samuel as to what was happening once he realized it himself, and told him what to do. Moses is another prophet who heard the voice of God, this time from a burning bush that was not consumed by the fire. In Your Write Calling: Is Writing Right for You? by Beyr Reyes, the reader is instructed to think about whether God has called them and how.
Once called, says Beyr Reyes, God will surely equip you for the task. In the case of writing, there are many organizations that can mentor and train you, her own ShadeTree Publishing included. Many others are listed in Your Write Calling. You must also determine your motives. The reader is cautioned against thinking they will make a lot of money as a writer, since best selling authors are few and far between, and work very hard. Something else Christian writers face is spiritual warfare as Satan goes to great lengths to stop God’s Word. If, after reading this book, you genuinely feel that you are called to write, do it. It can be extremely rewarding and is definitely needed.
