In Ysobel by John N. Crain, Connor loses his wife, which hurts him greatly, leading to his rapid deterioration. But luckily, Connor can relive his past experiences in an alternative universe, which has no repercussions in his home universe. Growing up, Connor had been a good student who excelled in various subjects, including mathematics and art. He also loved motorcycles and was popular with women. When he first went to college, things did not go very well for him; he failed his classes and was in constant trouble with his professors. To make changes to his life, he headed back home and later relocated to Arizona. In Arizona, he worked various jobs and met Izzy, whom he loved very much. Their relationship is strong, but it faces various challenges, as Izzy is still a minor, and her father could ruin Connor’s life. One day, she ends the relationship abruptly, which devastates Connor. How will things turn out for Connor?
Ysobel by John N. Crain is wonderfully written and covers various themes that will resonate with many readers. I loved how it covered things such as peer pressure, drugs, and how things such as relationships affect the lives of young people as they grow up. This thought-provoking work also got me thinking about the role of parents in helping young people navigate such issues. John ensured every place and emotion was vividly described, which helped create a mental picture of what was happening. The characters were well-developed, and the flawless flow of the plot also ensured no room for confusion. The reader will also appreciate the easy-to-understand language used, which makes the work accessible to all audiences. I look forward to reading something else by John N. Crain.
