10 Easy Steps to Getting a Great Job in a Lousy Economy! Secrets of a Veteran Recruiter: How to Hunt for a Job Like a Head Hunter by J.C. Overberg is an easy-to-follow program created by an expert in human resources. Drawing on 15 years’ experience in employee recruiting and sales, Overberg gives handy tips to being a success in selling yourself. It all starts with a positive mindset to use the Laws of Attraction and put forth the energy of expectation. By using the questionnaire worksheets and sample templates of a professional resume and cover letter, backed up by a strong social media presence, any job candidate can get the upper hand in a competitive market. Once the image is created, it’s time to find the job vacancy through advertisements or old-fashioned networking. The power of the Internet helps expand a local search to a global one. Overberg explains that recruiters employ the same techniques to find recruits as recruits do to find jobs. Other areas discussed are elevator pitches, phone scripts, customizing the resume and cover letter for a particular job, interviews in person and over the phone, how to follow up with a thank you and the secrets behind negotiating an offer.

At the end of the book is an insightful reading list, gobs of templates, resume action verb list, helpful websites, phone apps, network tracking spreadsheet and tips for LinkedIn profiles. I especially liked the section on tactful resignation, because we have all accepted the dream job only to find out it is really a nightmare in disguise. By combining investigative research with proven sales techniques, anyone can land a great job. J.C. Overberg in 10 Easy Steps to Getting a Great Job in a Lousy Economy! Secrets of a Veteran Recruiter: How to Hunt for a Job Like a Head Hunter presents a realistic process in simple steps to becoming a personal and professional success.
