So before I start this review, I've got to tell you that I am NOT someone who understands meditation. I like massages, breathing deeply, relaxing, all of that, but focused meditation has never been something I can understand or really get behind. Well, my thoughts and preconceptions have just been challenged by William Blake's book: A Creative Toolkit of Meditations.

With sections devoted to Growing Up, Waking Up, and integrating the two, this book takes you step by step through a process of healing and growth. Growing Up involves observation of how our negative beliefs determine our motivations, and then continue on into our actions. Waking Up involves learning about your true nature. The book is just a tool to help you on your own personal journey towards mastering different styles of meditation. While I didn't actually practice any of the forms and thought exercises discovered in the book, you can bet that the next time I'm stressed, I'm going to reference back to this book and make the attempt to get things straight.

A Creative Toolkit of Meditations is more of a combined memoir, analysis of modern and past social standards, and a meditation booklet. It was an interesting blend of history, emotion, and facts, and it really makes you think. This book was VERY informative. It gave you not only food for thought, but scientific definitions, anecdotes, and factual information that you can really get into.

On a side note, I found out that this William Blake is actually related to the famous poet and philosopher, also named William Blake. Very cool and it's nice to see that thoughtfulness and great creativity run in the family.
