This book was written to help the reader make wise financial decisions and to be more confident dealing with their finances. It is well written and covers the basics of saving, spending, budgeting, credit, investing and insurance.

The author states "While your past mistakes do not condemn you, your current position is never a certainty. You cannot take for granted your past successes and blindly assume that they will continue to occur. The one thing that we know for certain is that uncertainty will prevail. Life itself is unpredictable, and just when you think everything is perfect, your life will shift." To me, this paragraph sums up the need to be as financially prepared as possible. Following the advice in this book will help to make financial security a reality.

We are encouraged to look at our attitude toward money. By answering a few questions, we can better understand why we save or spend the way we do. It encourages us to give ourselves a set of guidelines to help us be wise savers and spenders. We are advised to plan for the unexpected by putting back money for major expenses that will occur. By having a spending plan these expenses will be covered as well as the weekly and monthly expenses.

I think this book would be great for college students and newlyweds to read and put into practice early in their career. It offers a lot of common sense advice that many of us choose to ignore. Whether you need a reminder or are just starting out this book will have something that will help guide you on your road to your own financial renaissance.
