Shadow of Darkness Volume 1 by Moisaque Blanc and Roy Gonzales is a superhero story with an adult touch. Mexico in the 1930s has a new government and is ruled by federales who are corrupt. Following his refusal to hand over his gold, an old man is shot and killed in cold blood. As he lies dying, he says just one thing – La Sombra. Robert Salicido arrives on the scene and, fed up with watching people being terrorized, he decides to do something about it. He becomes more than just a person, he becomes La Sombra. He makes it his mission to hunt down the corrupt federales and do something about them. He goes after their leader, who is intent on escaping, and brings him to justice. He becomes the town protector.

Shadow of Darkness Volume 1 by Moisaque Blanc and Roy Gonzales is the book version of a comic due for release this year. It was different. I cannot remember the last time I read a comic style book and, to be honest, I did enjoy it. It was a little bloodthirsty so I would not recommend it for youngsters, perhaps adult teenagers and older. The story was good and had a real superhero feel to it. The graphics were excellent and, unless you actually do this type of work, you can never fully appreciate just how much work has gone into it. Very well written, well illustrated, and an all-round good read.
