It’s 2009 and we are faced with an unstable economy. Job layoffs are more than rumor. Gary Nowkinski offers suggestions for making yourself invaluable to your employer.
He begins by addressing attitude and behavior. This is probably the most important chapter in this small book. When faced with a decision of downsizing an employer will evaluate your attitude and behavior. Ask yourself if you demonstrate loyalty, integrity, honesty, self-confidence, pride, and attendance. Are you continuing your education? Can you communicate effectively? Are you well groomed, clean and professional looking? How are your customer service skills? Do you think positive?
While these questions may seem simple they are important. You must sell yourself and consider yourself on a continuing job interview.
99 Ways to Build Job Security is an excellent book for all employees where young or old. It is well written and covers a variety of topics. The style is simple and easy to understand. This would make a great gift for a recent graduate.
