Rebecca is the manager of a successful Boston hotel. Marshall Hammersmith, the reception desk director, was the man found murdered in his office. Betsy is the hotel security chief and long time best friend of Rebecca. Peter is Betsy’s fiance and homicide detective assigned to the hotel murder case. Rebecca is the number one suspect and, with help from Betsy, must find the answers and the real killer. In addition to running the day to day activities of the hotel and dealing with a convention of bartenders and all the problems it entails, Rebecca quickly finds herself in all sorts of situations that will make you laugh, make you worry, and make you say, “Oh no, don’t do that, Rebecca, it will get you in big trouble." She is followed, held at gunpoint, and finds ways to make a banquet dinner a success while dealing with angry guests and a crazed killer all at once.

A Conventional Murder: A Rebecca Bauer Hotel Mystery is a blend of humor, hotel management, friendship and murder. Every time I thought I had the murder victim picked out, I realized, nope, I was wrong. A Conventional Murder is a quick and enjoyable read. Author Julia Rohatyn obviously knows Boston and the hotel business and has taken us inside and behind the scenes to solve this murder. I really found myself liking Rebecca and her friends, and I am anxiously looking forward to her next adventure.
